Round, large, high, I rest my cheek, my hand, my foot
on it even a bowl of chips when you slouch on the sofa.
Movie on cable, Princess Bride, the volume low,
we make up our own dialogue, trying to out-do
each other’s jokes. You play Inigo Montoya, I give
Fred Savage cancer, your laugh almost spills over
the bowl. A few chips land on your sweatshirt.
I eat them off, my tongue catching the ruffles.

{Discussed: Point Brugge, celebrating sports wins, mouth water.}

MG: It was a lovely rainy evening, and I was really enjoying my trench coat.

SG: Whilst I embraced the cropped sweater and my new patent leather peep-toe pumps.

MG: Those were cute. And I thought both are looks went really well with the atmosphere (which I thoroughly enjoyed) of Point Brugge Café, conveniently located in Point Breeze.

Now that the G20 summit has come to a close, many will turn to its findings for answers on how the world economy will fare as the year progresses. I, myself, feel this is stupid. With the close of Ready-to-Wear Fall ’09 European fashion weeks in March, I’m already fully informed on the continuing financial shit-storm the world is undergoing.

It’s not a new idea that fashion reflects economics. There’s the old adage that when the stock market falls, so do hemlines. But fashion doesn’t only coincide with the economy — fashion can also forecast it.

I’ll get this out of the way: I am a fair-weather Steelers fan. I am glad when they win, not all that disappointed when they lose, and I really only watch their games during the playoffs. I don’t actively pay attention to what is happening in sports or let it affect my day-to-day goings on.

My husband, on the other hand, is a part-time sports writer and shed actual tears the last time the Steelers won a Super Bowl. In fact he cried when watching a rerun of that game on the NFL network several years later. Needless to say, we are on very different ends of the Pittsburgh Sport Fan spectrum. The one thing we do tend to agree on is that there are appropriate and inappropriate times and places to wear sports/team gear.

{Discussed: Dolce, South Side, VIP Clubs, Name-Raping, Rico Suaves, Douche-bags}

MG: So it’s been a while since our last get together. Of course that’s not my fault: I did get tickets to Chicks with Dicks but was stood up.

SG: Listen here biddy, I was suffering from graduate-school-itis-exhaustis.

MG: I understand, and maybe if our re-do of that evening at Dolce was more fulfilling, I still wouldn’t harbor a little bitty grudge.

SG: Yes, Dolce was not so sweet.

MG: Dolce, it turns out, is Italian for douche-bag! Since it was full of them.
