A Glowworm On Wheels

since inside lights are on, one can’t see out through the inky tint,
but can be studied like Nighthawks.
The bus is a democratic isle post Parks,
above the midst of splashy steel grills of Benz and plastic window covers.
No bowling alone in this aisle.
They stand to make room for the infirm,
fold back a bench for those encumbered by age or child. (more…)

Paul Handley works at a homeless shelter, where he resides most of the time. After a decade of working for the Foreign Service, he went back to school and earned an MFA from William and Mary. He has been socking away, writing in paper journals and, for the first time, is not too overwhelmingly embarrassed to share some of it.
